“What the fuck was that!” Shouted Dominic Pryce, his broad shoulders slumped down the thick gravestone. A gash sliced across his left temple as he clutched both of his samurai swords. The gentle fog moving through the crisp, cool air. A muscled chest panting with heavy breaths. Sepia eyes slithered towards the gravestone next to him for his wife, Madison Pryce. Like Dominic she was a fellow Arcane Protector. Actually, one of the few around here in the middle of bumble fuck!
Every bone in his body now throbbed and ached from pain. Getting up close and personal with those mother fucker’s was a bad idea! A sigh escaping Dominic who peered over the gray stone wall. Frantically scanning the area for the horde of vampires they encountered, a nest of them. The town seemed to be crawling with them. Not one single Arcane Protector, at least not any they encountered.
The copper flavored liquid only intoxicating the nest of vampires. Each of them spread out among the large cemetery. They moved like lightning yet were as strong as probably ten men. Wincing from the sharp pain in his rib, Dominic would freeze when a twig snapped. Clutching his samurai swords tightly, he was prepared to decapitate the nearest one. The leader of the group looked something out of a bad foreign film or a biker movie. Long, silky black hair fell past his shoulders across his long leather trench coat. Before Dominic could usher another word he was roughly yanked backwards and slammed into the nearest evergreen tree. The momentum enough to knock his weapons out of his hands. Slumping down the tree trunk with a groan. His head spilling more blood as the leader’s sharp fangs dripped with saliva.
Peering up, Dominic winced before waving the air in front of him. “You fella’s might wanna consider a breath mint, maybe?” A brutal punch landed the Arcane Protector squarely in the mouth, jerking his head back. Slow to stand up, Dominic dusted off the grass stains on his dark denim jeans. “Did I mention I bruise easily?” While Dominic did have a big mouth he was playing decoy for his wife. Madison preferred to do things by-the-book. Unfortunately, Dominic was a rule breaker and this instance was no surprise. Quickly glancing down for his weapons he noticed they were several feet away. A small brunette who appeared to be in her teens picked them up. “Nice swords.” Dominic flashed her a grin, “Yes, they are.” He reached behind his back for his pistol but that too was missing, fuck!
Before either Dominic or Madison came to this town they had been training in Virginia since the age of eight years old as Arcane Protectors. Once they graduated then all the fun finally began. It was where the two had met. Their tumultuous relationship was anything but boring. Madison was simply a ball buster and Dominic was the designated asshole. Together they were the perfect match made in heaven. Despite being immature and rude, Dominic could be sweet and romantic. In fact, it was his wicked sense of humor and romantic nature that scored him the biggest jewel out there, Madison Pryce. Sure, he had suffered quite a bit at the hands of shadowkind. But Dominic knew a diamond in the rough when he saw one. Even if he and ’Madi’ as he nick named her didn’t always see eye to eye.
“So, I got a deck of cards in my truck. We could sit here and play strip poker if you guys are up for it.” Slam! A sickening punch rammed its way into Dominic’s gut, causing him to collapse onto his knees. A cough escaping his full lips as he sucked in a breath. His short spiked hair was yanked roughly back by the ring leader. “Shut up, asshole!” Snarled the leader as he slammed his fist into the brown leather of Dominic’s jacket, causing him to fall backwards. These vampires likes to play with their food. “Kraven, let’s just kill him!” The teenage girl whined.
A husky laugh trembled the black muscle t-shirt he wore under his brown leather jacket. “Kraven? What a gay name!” Slam! Another fist pounded into Dominic’s cheek, impacting across his five o’clock shadow. Curling a crumble of dirt in his palm Dominic hurled the dirt into the vampire’s eyes. Slamming his own fist into the leader’s crotch before the Arcane Protector stood up. Rolling forward a round house kick struck like a deadly cobra across the girl’s throat, sending her spiraling backwards. In seconds Dominic regained his swords. A skillful twirl of his swords was offered as he eyed more of the vampire’s further back in the cemetery.
“Say hello to my little friend!” He mocked the fake Italian accent as his swords glimmered above the full moon above. Where the hell was his wife? Madison always did enjoy leaving his ass out to rot! She’d be getting a spanking for that later on. For now, they would need to focus on the mission at hand.

Re: Shoot to Thrill
It was just another ordinary day in the life of Madison Pryce. To say this was a typical night would be an understatement for the Arcane Protector. Ever since she was of an age to enter into the conclave, the huntress’s life had taken a turn into the unusual despite the fact that she had expected to follow in her parent’s footsteps. To a young girl, boys and popularity should have been the cornerstone of her youth, but instead she received lessons in how to slay werewolves and expel demons. When girls her age were receiving their first Barbie doll, Madison was given her first silver dagger. While her gifts held sentimental value to her, many would find their choice inappropriate--what did she care though? She had never felt as though she was lacking or that there was some right of passage she had missed along the way. Without any siblings but an assortment of distant cousins, Madison was the sole focus of her parent's attention when they weren't off on their own mission.
At the age of twenty-eight the protector was everything her parent's had ever hoped for and more. Unfortunately they weren't around to witness the woman she had become nor had they been able to see her walk down the isle. There was no place for regrets, only action as a member of the order. With their headquarters in ruins and their numbers scattered across the country, every able body was required to report for duty. Buried in the middle of Kansas, this was definitely not home as hazel hues scanned the distant gravestones ignoring the names engraved on their surface. Distant cries of a battle ragged on, she didn't need a crystal ball to tell her that her husband was just ahead in the middle of the fray. Madison could remember the phone call that had brought them here only days ago. While investigating one of their many leads, her phone had rung--Taylor obviously wouldn't have called Dominic after all. She had always been more receptive, while he would have surely ignored the call. Authority and Dominic were two words that never mixed.
Ever since the Leopold attack, the moment word of another nearby protector was alluded to, they would be sought out and pulled back into the ranks. Simply put, these were fetch missions that any new graduate protector could take care of while leaving the important jobs to seasoned hunters like the Pryces. Despite the fact both Leopold and shadowkind were targeting the protectors one by one, the assignment was still beneath them. There was little to argue though since Madison was always one to follow the book even though Dom had spent the last few years chipping away at her resolve. A thin mist clung to the ground at her feet as the crescent moon hung up above her head in the night sky. According to their fearless leader, a protector was rumored to be buried somewhere nearby around the same time the couple heard of a growing clan of vampires in the same vicinity. Coincidence? Most likely not and that was exactly why they had agreed to take on the task. The plan was to split up--she would linger on the outskirts of the cemetery while he would scout out the interior. Afterwards when their own business was taken care of, the Pryces would deal with the protector.
Suede calf length boots would become moist from the dew lingering on the grass blades as they would encase a pair of tight fitted dark jeans that was clinging to every curve. A sleeveless, button down acid washed fitted shirt would reveal the smooth creamy olive skin tone and the bare traces of a white spaghetti strap tang top underneath. Dark mocha locks would cascade down past her shoulders as she reached down for twin ten-inch draggers that were hidden inside her boots. A strapped crossed over her chest with a holster attached around her back. Blades spun in the palms of her hands as the tips graze her inner arms. In the distance she could see a group gathered around a figure. She assumed it was her husband since her line of sight was blocked off, only catching a shadow of the person being hovered over. Ducking down behind the nearest gravestone, cat-like eyes would assess the situation from her vantage point. She had managed to circle around the perimeter and make her way behind them. With heightened sensory hearing, the protector would have to charge in fast. "Quiet Easton! I will deal with him myself." The vampire shot a glare at his companion as she counted five others who were with him. Stealing her nerves a small smirk managed to curve its way on the corner of her lips. She wouldn't wince as the vampire's fist connected with Dominic's jaw, he could take care of himself and his distraction would give Madison the time she would need. The moment he rolled and recovered his swords, She wouldn't think twice.
In a dead sprint she managed to clear the distance between her and the closet back. A broken gravestone stood in her path as she didn't allow it to slow her down, instead she vaulted on top and sprung off. Dagger outstretched the blade would aim for his open neck and sail down connecting with muscle while slicing violently through. Without stopping and both arm out to her side, she twirled as if she were a deadly windmill, one dagger after the other cutting through another vampire's neck cleanly. With two out of commission only the leader and four of his cronies remained. "What? Did you think I was leaving you alone to have all the fun?" Despite the situation she couldn't help but tease him. Jumping to the side, a fist came a hair's breath from her porcelain features as her palm squeezed the handle tightly before shoving her elbow into his face. He cried out in pain but she hadn't been prepared for his quick recovery as the back of his arm crashed into her ribcage. Doubling over for a moment, she ducked down and swiped his legs out from underneath him.

Re: Shoot to Thrill
From the corner of his peripheral vision Dominic noticed movement in a blur of movements, his wife. A smug grin growing on his full lips. Madison was a deadly hand-to-hand combatant as well as excellent weaponry marksmen. It was one of the reason’s he had been so attracted to the tough beauty. Madison could wipe the floor with anyone including Dominic if the mood sought her. He aided in her core training but the rest was all her. She had been bred from two top Arcane Protector’s just as he had. Dominic hadn’t always taken his job seriously. Yet, it had been Madi who managed to toughen him as well as rehabilitate him. He still loathed authority but now as a grown man he could also appreciate it for in reality there lacked such an order. Especially with the death of so many brilliant and deadly Arcane Protectors.
Groans and grunts of pain reverberated through the chilly night air, causing that infectious grin to grow. Sepia eyes drank in the lovely shape of his wife’s succulent body. Damn, she was fine as hell. Even on the battlefield, Dominic appreciated his wife’s svelte hips and long-lean legs, and those ample breasts, wowza! Dominic could feel the surge of adrenaline coursing through his blood veins but also another rush of blood to his appendage. Fighting was a powerful aphrodisiac to him especially with the danger of the situation. It wasn’t uncommon for the two to engage in some passionate lovemaking after slaying a nest of vampires, a pack of lycan’s, etc. Dominic’s heart pounding in his chest that sounded like an African drum to him. In a split-second Madison had vanquished two vampires in the drop of a hat and was already working on a third.
The sultry purr of his beautiful wife’s teasing remark causing a chuckle to follow. “Hey beautiful, was wondering when you were gonna join me.” A sly wink flirted in her direction. He wouldn’t change his partner-in-crime for the world. Madison Pryce was all he needed and wanted. Most would say the infamous couple was anti-social or reclusive but they just preferred to rely on the other. But they did obey orders given by Taylor when necessary.
The leader of the vampire’s would growl in frustration at the lack of competency in his men. He had the real urge to yank out his long locks but refrained from doing so. Noticing Madison his dark eyes gleamed. “I want his head on a platter!” He whispered to his other lackies. There was something about Madison he wanted and it was more than her blood. In a blur of movements Kraven disappeared from sight only to blink before Madison. Yet, another contender for Madison to deal with.
The teenage girl would leap towards Dominic who viciously slashed her arm clear off the bone as she cried out in pain. Blood spilling from the wound as the silver blade was held above his head ninja style. Slivers of blood dripping down as she bared her sharp teeth. “Asshole!” Dominic grinned, “Why thank you.” She fumed as she raised her arm to strike Dominic. The deadly protector was too fast and powerful for her as a powerful swoop of his sword would slice through skin, muscle, and bone. The pale head rolling onto the dewy grass, splashes of her blood coating it. “And the crowd goes wild as Pryce slays yet another ugly mo’fo.” He offered cheers like a crowd roaring at the success of his kill.
Bruno, a large muscular vampire who resembled more of a body builder roared in rage. His baby sister was slain at the hand of Dominic Pryce. Thick hands would yank the grave stone right out of the ground. In seconds he would slam the stone across Dominic’s spine, causing the hunter to crash to the floor. A white heat of pain throbbing along his spine. Yeah, that was leaving a nasty bruise. The dark haired vampire would raise the head stone above his head and hurl it at Dominic. The hunter would roll out of the way, just barely missing the hefty stone that crashed to the ground. Getting up slowly, Dominic massaged his spine as he scooped up his samurai blades. “Okay twinkles, you obviously wanna piece of me.” Sheathing his blades behind his spine he pulled out his double barrel pistols in each hand. A click was echoed as the safety was removed. The vampire scoffed, “Guns?! That won’t stop me.” Squeezing the trigger, both wooden bullets sliced through the air as they struck the vampire in the pectoral region. Blood exploding as the vampire fell to the ground from the velocity of the bullets.
One thing Dominic had learned in his grueling training program as an Arcane Protector, vampires had a few weaknesses. Wood was one of those weaknesses. The wooden bullet would tear at pale skin as the vampire grunted in pain. Walking towards the big vampire, Dominic aimed his gun towards the skull area. “That’s right, dick head. Wooden bullets. Whose the bitch now?” A loud gun shot echoed as the wooden bullet penetrated Bruno’s skull. A jerk of the vampire was given before he appeared to be dead. Holstering both guns via his shoulder harness, Dominic grabbed his samurai sword as he decapitated the vampire taking zero chances for revival or healing.
All that was left was Kraven and the man Madison was fighting with. He looked in the direction of his wife to check on her progress, a habit they had succumbed to over the years.
