A week had gone by, since Carter and Eve Cassidy had dinner. Afterwards, he had been walking her back to her car when they encountered the small group of blood drinkers. They barely escaped by the skin of their teeth. Then like a fool he, accidently caused Eve to trip and hit the back of her head. He felt like a bumbling idiot, but it all worked out in the end. He made sure that she was taken care of until she felt strong enough to leave his Manhattan flat.

After a long day at the gallery, he was ready for a quiet night alone. Which was a first for him, what would he do without some female throwing themselves at him all night long at a local club? Or having to humor them with meaningless conversations about nothing he'd be interested in? What would any guy do in his situation? Absolutely nothing, maybe flip through the television, listen to music and have something to eat? Nothing of the sort, he had decided on his way home that he would go back to the scene and look for clues. He made it back to his flat,only to change his clothes, clothes more suitable for walking around the city. A pair of black loose fitting pants and dark gray hoodie with a pair of black boots.

Before he left he gave his place the once over and opened the small drawer of the side table near the door, retrieving a snubbed nose revolver, he tucked it behind his back, in the waistband of his pants. Adjusting the hoodie to keep it hidden, Carter shut and locked the door before he would head into the city.

:: Moving along the sidewalk at his own pace, Carter would pass by several people along the way, they were laughing and having a good ole time visiting the Big Apple. He shok his head with a frown creasing his lips. These people have no idea what's really happening around them. Do they? he thought. They go about their lives mindless of the dangers that lurk at every corner. To them we are freaks... outcasts from everyday society. But them minute they ask for assistance. Insight to the unknown they jump at the chance and are willing to pay for whatever knowledge we can offer them. Only to turn around and laugh it off as nonsense. Nonsense they'd say about those who could see into the future and past of everyones life. one day soon each and every nay sayer and skeptic will know the truth and once again they will come crawling on their hands and knees for answers. Carter was now at the place where they first encountered the vampire. He'd walk back and forth along the sidewalk, keeping his eyes on the ground as he scanned the pavement.
