1947, the rivals
Up until this year, the banding together of the families had been steadfast and collaborative. While every now and then an event would pop up where a few families didn’t see eye to eye, every domain managed to work out their differences. Unfortunately, two families always fought the united efforts, and never seemed to be able to make it past the rivalry between each other. Lazarus, Head of the Necromancer kin, and Harmony, Head of the Diviner kin, constantly raged war against one another. While the other families tried their best not to get involved, the two domains made it near to impossible for them to. The war between the two families is the first ‘recorded’ time in history where the families used their magic against each other. For the most part, everyone agreed that they could do great things by working together, but even when most issues were sorted out, life wasn’t clear sailing during their time. |
1963, the demise
For sixteen years, the families managed to quell any arguments between one another and live somewhat peacefully. The peaceful time that followed Lazarus and Harmony’s civil agreement came to a terrible end when an Arcanist gathering was infiltrated by a horde of Shadowkind. While only a few lives were lost, loyalties were evident between the families; those who were concerned for their family’s safety only watched out for their own kind, while a small group of others came together to try and defend everyone. In the aftermath, once the Shadowkind had been slain, the tension between all of the families boiled. No one was happy, and the Heads swore that they’d offer no help to one another even if another family were in dire need. With the selfish mindsets of each Arcanist plaguing their judgments, they set themselves up on a rough journey through the upcoming years. |
1987, the treaty
The years following the demise were rocky. Few families kept in touch, though not all Heads had lived up to their promise. Even though a few still watched out for the others, their help never extended onwards if a situation would endanger their own family. When word got out about a massive gathering of creatures from the Shadow Realm planning on bleeding over into the Material Realm, the Heads of the family once more reunited. Joining together with an organization as old as their magic, the Order of Arcane Protectors, the Arcanists and the hunters came together to fight the oncoming threat. Many lives were spared because of their efforts together, though the families were still somewhat hesitant to reunite like they had been all those years ago. Not sure whether or not to trust everyone completely, the families agreed to still keep in touch, though be wary of those they trusted. |
1992, the kidnapping
The current leaders of each family had successfully managed to keep the peace for a number of years, and a lot of them settled down. While turning away from their vigilant behavior against the Shadowkind, they were open to a golden opportunity for the Leopolds to strike. When the families were located, the Edict of Leopold struck quickly. The children of the families were kidnapped, and put into a facility in the Nevada desert. Each of the parents united again in order to save their children. While it took them several days, they eventually managed to track down their children and returned them to their rightful homes. The families went their separate ways, believing that it may have been an inside source that had revealed the families’ locations. Some families kept in touch with one another, making alliances in the case of future threats. |

2010, the abandon
In 1992, when the children had been abducted, there was little proof of whom the families were dealing with. Years later, following any lead they could, the adults of the families began researching into the mysteries that were still unresolved. When information was uncovered about the organization that had stolen their kids, the adults worked together effortlessly to save the lives of their progeny – yet, before they could act against the Leopolds, the Arcanists were faced with another problem. When the elder of the Diviners saw signs of a coming war, they gathered the other adults and took off to the Shadow Realm without warning their young ones. The oldest members of each family took over as the ‘Head’ of the family, save for the Evocation kin, even though no one knew anything about the disappearance of their parents. The only thing they were certain of is that the future would be bleak. |
